Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced a ‘Green Wheels’ program aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation across the province by providing electric bikes to the public.
Under this initiative, a total of 10,000 electric bikes and rickshaws will be made available on favorable terms, without any interest.
Mohsin Naqvi, while addressing the media, outlined the key components of this progressive initiative.
Notably, 2,000 electric three-wheeler bikes will be allocated to special individuals, offered entirely free of interest.
Additionally, 2,000 electric bikes are earmarked for government employees, and another 2,000 will be distributed to women working in both government and private sectors, all without interest, he said.
An important facet of this announcement is the prohibition on government-level procurement of fuel motorcycles.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that henceforth, government departments will exclusively acquire electric bikes, aligning with the global push for sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the provincial government to address environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices.
The Caretaker Chief Minister has urged citizens to embrace this opportunity, contributing collectively to a greener and cleaner future for Punjab.
The electric transportation program is scheduled to roll out in the coming weeks, marking a significant milestone in Punjab’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
