‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ faces severe hacking crisis

The Drew Barrymore Show has been attacked by unknown hackers pretending to be crew members.

According to Variety, “one or more individuals” attempted to scam talent and other people involved with the 42-year-old actress’ talk show while also posting “paid opportunities” for future guests.

Moreover, they also tried using social media tools like Facebook broadcasts.

Sources told the outlet that some vendors also got scammed after they received requests for personal banking information.

To make agents and publicists aware about the situation, the show sent out a memo which read, “It has recently come to our attention that one or more individuals have fraudulently been holding themselves out to be connected with ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and soliciting participation in Facebook Lives and other paid opportunities.”

“These solicitations seem to be coming from various mock emails containing some part of the ‘Drew Barrymore’ name,” it read further.

Other insiders well-versed with the series also revealed that the hackers used Google Mail accounts to scam people, with one individual posing as a producer who set and held meetings on the show’s behalf.
