The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Monday provided an update on pacer Ihsanullah’s injury on Monday, saying that the youngster is “on the road to recovery”.

The 21-year-old hasn’t been playing due to being injured in his elbow and undergoing surgery after it.

“Ihsanullah is on the road to recovery after spending 11 weeks in post-operative care after suffering an elbow injury,” the PCB said in an official statement regarding the pacer.

It stated that a doctor from England performed the surgery on Ihsanullah in the first week of September.

After the operation, the pacer used an elbow brace for four weeks, with a doctor and physio attending him on a daily basis at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, the PCB added.

“Ihsanullah’s elbow brace was removed in the fifth week after which he started his active rehabilitation. His MRI and CT scans in the second week of October showed signs of recovery, according to the doctors who described them as having satisfactory post-surgical appearances.”

The doctors expressed confidence that Ihsanullah will be able to begin functional training after the completion of the 16th week of his recovery.

Ihsanullah was ruled out from international cricket after playing in the national squad for the home ODI series against New Zealand in April.

The pacer is unlikely to feature in the Test series against Australia towards the end of 2023 and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

The 21-year-old has played one ODI and four T20Is over the course of his brief career for the Pakistan cricket team, so far. He made his debut in the limited-overs format earlier this year.
