Pakistan all-rounder, Usama Mir, stole the limelight as he dazzled both with the bat and ball, guiding Manchester Originals to a resounding victory over Birmingham Phoenix in a thrilling encounter of The Hundred Men’s Competition at Manchester on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Manchester found themselves in a precarious situation at 105 for 6, struggling to stabilize their innings. 

However, the emergence of Usama at the number eight position proved to be a turning point, propelling the team to a commanding total of 160 for 8 at the end of their innings.

He showcased his batting prowess with an unbeaten knock of 32 runs off just 14 deliveries, which included five boundaries and a six, maintaining a breathtaking strike-rate of 228.57.

Shadab Khan was expensive with the ball, conceding 39 runs from 20 balls, without take a wicket for Birmingham.

During the chase, Birmingham faced a daunting challenge, losing wickets at regular intervals and struggling to build partnerships. The scorecard displayed a meager 77 for 6 wickets, with Manchester Originals’ victory looming large.

The all-rounder continued his dazzling form, this time with the ball, as he dismantled the middle-order resistance of Birmingham Phoenix. 

His pivotal wickets included the dismissals of Dan Mousley (5) and Shadab Khan (4).

The 27-year-old’s brilliant bowling performance was a spectacle to behold, finishing with impressive figures of two wickets for 27 runs from his 20 deliveries at 1.35 RPB.

With this performance, Manchester Originals succeeded in dismantling Birmingham Phoenix’s batting lineup, bundling them out for a paltry 111 runs and won the match convincingly by 49 runs.
